Charge Density Waves in Transition Metal Dichalcogenides

Abstract

This thesis investigates the charge density waves (CDW) in two transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Doping and strain are used to tune the CDWs, helping to understand the mechanism of formation of CDWs.
