In order to modify the physical properties of BaFe0.5Nb0.5O3 perovskite through cationic doping of a distinct element at the A-site, the novel Ba0.80Mg0.20Fe0.5Nb0.5O3 perovskite is prepared through the conventional solid-state reaction route. Rietveld refinement of the X-ray diffraction pattern is performed to ascertain the crystal structure, while the surface image acquired through scanning electron microscopy is used for morphological analysis of the sample. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques are utilized for the elemental composition analysis of the sample. An impedance analyzer is used to record the dielectric and electrical response of the sample over a wide range of frequencies (100 Hz–500 kHz) and temperatures (20–300 °C), revealing its suitability for energy storage and semiconducting applications. The magnetic response monitored at ambient temperature confirms the weak ferromagnetic nature of the sample. The optical direct bandgap energy of the sample is estimated to be 1.58 eV, revealing its favorability for photocatalytic applications. Overall, the results indicate that the investigated sample is a potential choice for multifunctional applications.en_US
